60 foreign publishers to attend 35th Tehran International Book Fair
TEHRAN-Sixty foreign publishers will take part in the 35th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) that is slated to be held in Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla from May 8 to 18, the fair director said at a press conference on Monday.
“The foreign publishers will present about 50,000 titles in the fair while last year the figure stood at 45,000 titles,” IRNA quoted Yasser Ahmadvand as saying.
“From May 13 to 15, we will host a program titled Iran’s Publication in the Foreign Sector”. The event is planned to introduce Iranian publications to foreign publishers. About 20 publishers and literary agents (literary agencies) will be present at the event. During the three-day program, they will visit printing centers and bookstores. We hope that the event will be the beginning of getting to know more about Iran's publishing and books,” he added.
Referring to other cultural programs planned for this period of the book fair, Ahmadvand said: “In this edition, two special programs have been planned, one is related to the people of Gaza, and the other one is centered around women and girls”.
With the slogan “Let's Read and Create,” the 35th edition of the TIBF will also simultaneously be held virtually on ketab.ir.
Yemen is the special guest of this edition of the book fair.
Being Iran’s major trade fair for books, the TIBF has been turned into a landmark, momentous book fair in West Asia after 34 editions in a row. Millions of visitors inspect the fair every year, including thousands of university students, scholars, and their families.
The cultural event currently serves as the most significant cultural event in Iran. On average 2,500 domestic publishers participate in the landmark event. The foreign publishers substantially offer their materials in English or Arabic; however, titles in French, German, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese are also available.
