TEHRAN- Former Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says Iran’s retaliatory operation against Israel exhibited “a small part” of the country’s capabilities to confront the occupying regime.

In an interview with Iran’s Arabic-language television news network Al-Alam on Saturday, Mottaki said that the attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, was conducted based on a detailed and precise plan.

“The operation, which was carried out in response to a cowardly act of aggression by the Israeli regime against the Iranian embassy in Damascus and the martyrdom of several Iranians, demonstrated a small part of Iran’s capabilities to confront the Zionist regime,” he added.

According to Mottaki, this raid showed that any flying object that hits targets belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the site it was launched from, will be attacked.

Overnight on April 13-14, Iran fired more than 300 drones and missiles at military bases in the Israeli-occupied territories.

The large-scale operation came less than two weeks after Israeli warplanes bombed the consular annex of Iran’s embassy in the Syrian capital.

The terrorist Israeli strike killed 13 people, including seven members of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) who were on an advisory mission to Syria.

Mottaki, who is also an MP-elect, said that the Iranian operation was the first offensive military act by the country’s Armed Forces after the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s.

“The night, when Iran attacked the occupied lands, was a nightmare for the enemy,” he noted.

He also said that the Zionist regime, along with the United States, France, and Britain, tried to confront the Iranian operation, but the Armed Forces used various methods to engage the enemy and thus their missiles powerfully hit their intended targets.
