TEHRAN – After a 10-year hiatus, the 3rd Iran-UAE Joint Economic Commission kicked off in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, IRIB reported.

The two-day event is being co-chaired by Iranian Transport and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash and UAE’s Economy Minister Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.

 This meeting will be held after 10 years to develop cooperation between the two countries in all economic areas, including investment and transportation fields (air, sea, road, and combined).

The development of the transit cooperation between the two countries, especially through international transit corridors like the North-South corridor, for transiting UAE goods to the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus and Russia as well as Europe from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran is also on the agenda of this meeting.

A business forum is also scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the event, in which businessmen, economic operators, and private sector entrepreneurs will negotiate face-to-face with their counterparts.

Also, several experts in the field of trade and investment will give speeches regarding the development of the business environment of the two countries and the rules and regulations governing investment and trade and related processes.

It is expected that two cooperation documents will be signed by the heads of the joint commission of the two countries on the second day of this meeting.
