Iran decries Germany backing of Israel
TEHRAN- Iran’s foreign minister has condemned Germany for backing the Zionist regime, recommending Berlin to concentrate on bringing about peace in Gaza rather than sabotaging Tehran’s justifiable operation in response to the Israeli attack on Iran’s diplomatic premises in Syria.
In a phone call with his German counterpart on Monday, Hossein Amir Abdollahian criticized Germany for its backing of the Israeli regime.
Additionally, he expressed hope that rather than denouncing Iran’s justifiable retaliatory response, the German government will concentrate on putting an end to the Israeli attack on Gaza and creating enduring peace and security from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea.
According to Amir Abdollahian, the Iranian military executed a “minimal and accurate” operation against the military facilities of the Israeli regime that were engaged in the bombing on the consular department of the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1.
He warned that the Zionist regime’s latest acts of adventurism will result in Iran’s “retaliatory, immediate, and massive” response.
“The purpose of the Islamic Republic of Iran was to warn the Israeli regime and make it realize the consequences of crossing the red lines,” he said to the top German diplomat.
Annalena Baerbock, for her part, emphasized that more communication is necessary at this crucial time.
She called for coordinated measures to stop the spread of conflicts, stating that recent events had increased regional tensions.
Baerbock also claimed that Germany is attempting to end the Gaza war and clear the path for a sustainable peace.
One of Israel’s most ardent supporters in the war on Gaza is Germany.
Germany is accused in a lawsuit before the highest UN court by Nicaragua of providing armaments to Israel, a country whose conflict has claimed the lives of almost 33,600 people since October 7, so enabling genocide in Gaza.
Germany has stated for years that the security of Israel is the main objective of its foreign policy.
Iran anticipates EU effort to bring about peace in Gaza
In a phone call on Sunday between the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Amir Abdollahian, the foreign minister of Iran expressed optimism that the European Union will launch a successful move to put an end to the crimes of genocide committed by the Israeli regime in the Gaza Strip and stated that Iran is prepared to assist in making this initiative a success.
The latest events in Gaza and Iran’s recent retaliatory operation in response to the Zionist regime’s deadly airstrike on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Damascus were among the many regional and global issues that were discussed over the phone.
According to the Foreign Ministry’s website, Amir Abdollahian stated that the Zionist regime’s persistent acts of aggression, such as the assault on Iran’s advisory forces participating in counterterrorism operations in Syria and the armed attack on the country’s diplomatic facilities in Damascus, are a flagrant breach of Iran’s red lines and the Vienna Convention.
“In light of the diplomatic inaction of the United Nations and the Security Council in issuing a single statement condemning this action, the Islamic Republic of Iran had no recourse but to retaliate against the Zionist regime within the framework of legitimate defense,” he stated.
The senior Iranian diplomat emphasized that Iran’s military action, which was carried out within the parameters of lawful defense, was successful and that “a message was conveyed following the conclusion of the operation that, from the perspective of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the matter is concluded.”
But if the Zionist regime retaliates, Iran will strike back as quickly and fiercely as possible.
“I hope that the European Union would take effective and efficient measures to end the genocide in Gaza,” Amir Abdollahian added, referring to the EU’s criticism of the Israeli regime’s attack on the Iranian consulate facility in Damascus. Naturally, the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to assist with these successful undertakings.
For his part, Borrell expressed happiness that the operation had come to an end from Iran’s standpoint while acknowledging that the military reaction from Iran was within expectations.
He said, “The attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus is condemned from the standpoint of the European Union because it violates the Vienna Convention.”
Borrell also discussed the diplomatic efforts being made by the EU to resolve the Gaza conflict and improve the lot of people in the region. He urged Iran to play a moderate role in these efforts.
“Iran has legitimate right to self-defense”
During phone call with his counterparts from Turkey, Syria, Saudi Arabia, India, Qatar, Egypt, Malta, UK and Russia, Abdollahian reiterated Iran’s right to lawful self-defense.
The Iranian foreign minister has increased diplomatic efforts following Tehran’s military action against Israel in response to the Zionist regime’s attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus.
Amir Abdollahian clarified that Iran purposefully limited its retaliatory operation against the Israeli regime, characterizing it as a preventive measure meant to chastise and caution the Zionist regime.
The foreign minister issued a further threat, stating that the Islamic Republic would respond “much harsher” if Israel took any further action against Iran.
Amir Abdollahian made it abundantly evident to the foreign diplomats that Tehran’s right to a legitimate defense and international law, as guaranteed by Article 51 of the UN Charter, were fully upheld by Iran’s armed reaction against the Israeli regime.
The Iranian foreign minister reaffirmed Iran’s opposition to war and tensions, describing the Zionist regime as the primary cause of insecurity and instability in the region and advocating for coordinated measures to put an end to the Zionist regime’s atrocities and genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip.
He also said that Iran supports the development of security and tranquility throughout the region, spanning from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, as well as long-term peace in Gaza.
