TEHRAN – Greek head coach Eleni Kapogianni has signed a one-year contract extension to stay with Iran’s women’s basketball team until the summer of 2025.

Under her leadership, Iran reached the final of the Asian Championship in Division B, where Team Melli suffered a narrow 55-54 loss against Indonesia and failed to advance to Division A.

After winning back-to-back Greek Women's Basketball League Championships with Panathinaikos Women's team, 55-year-old head coach Kapogianni took charge of Iran.

Kapogianni had a contract with the Iranian Basketball Federation for about three months which ended in August 2023 but has signed a new contract.
