Tehran-The children's play “Giants and School Children” written by Syd Hoff will be staged at Tehran Pardis Theater Complex from April 16 to 26.

Directed by Maryam Kazemi, the play is a production of Free Will Theater Group. The cast includes Mohamad Taha Bagherzadeh, Anahita Bohlouli, Parham Saghaei, Alvin Hajatmand, Arsalan Khosravi, Arnika Doroudian, Parsa Rezapour, Anousha Zamani, Fatemeh Zahra Zandieh, and Kourosh Nouri, ISNA reported.

The story is about a group of school children who decide to play their dreams about giants. Their teachers accompany them in their performances as well.

The play is part of the book “Giants and Other Plays” by Syd Hoff who wrote it in 1973. It includes five simple and simplistic skits, transparently built around five variously obtrusive and offensive morals.

Syd Hoff (1912-2004) was an American cartoonist and children's book author, best known for his classic early reader “Danny and the Dinosaur”. During his 60-year career, he wrote about 50 children’s books and 15 books for adults.

Hoff wrote and illustrated over 60 volumes in the HarperCollins “I Can Read” series for beginning readers, most notably “Sammy the Seal” and the popular “Danny and the Dinosaur” (1958), which sold 10 million copies and has been translated into a dozen languages.
