Iran’s Davoudi snatches silver at 2024 IWF World Cup

TEHRAN – Iran’s Ali Davoudi won a silver medal in the 2024 IWF World Cup on Thursday and also secured his berth in the 2024 Olympic Games.

Armenia's Varazdat Lalayan claimed the final event with a total score to 463kg.

Tokyo 2020 silver medalist Ali Davoudi took second place, lifting in the snatch (202kg), the clean and jerk (252 kg), and the total (454 kg).

Ayat Shari, also from Iran, won bronze with (201-246-447).

The IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand showcased the best weightlifters in the world from 31 March to 11 April.

It was the last qualifying competition for Paris 2024 with a maximum of one athlete per National Olympic Committee in each of the 10 weight classes.
