Iranian short film “Ant” wins awards from Russian festival
TEHRAN-The Iranian short film “Ant,” written, directed, and produced by Farhad Shantiaei has won two awards in its first presence at an international event from the 8th Human Cinema Festival, which was held in Chelyabinsk, Russia, from April 1 to 4.
The short flick won the Best Foreign Film award in the main competition section as well as the Best Feature Film award by the student jury, ILNA reported.
The 30-minute movie is about a deaf young man who recovers his hearing due to an incident, but after hearing what his closest family members talk about, he prefers to return to his quiet world.
Mehdi Ghorbani in the main role delivers a brilliant performance. Alireza Mohammadi, Shirin Mohseni, Niki Baniasadi, Mehrad Fathi, and Melika Khaleghi are also in the cast among others.
A production of 2023, Last year “Ant” won the best film award from the audience at the Tehran International Short Film Festival.
Shantiaei, 26, has directed two other short films namely “Souvenir” (2021) and “It Was Just a Cold, Mom” (2020). He has also played in Saeid Roustai’s last film “Leila’s Brothers,” which premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
