Interior minister issues border control warning to Pakistan after terrorist attack
TEHRAN- The recent terrorist attack in southeastern Iran has prompted the Iranian Interior Minister to issue a stern notice to Pakistan regarding border control measures.
Minister Ahmad Vahidi emphasized that such warnings have already been communicated to the Pakistani government and will persist.
On Thursday, a series of attacks targeted security outposts in the towns of Chabahar and Rask in Southeast Iran. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) successfully thwarted an attempt to seize their headquarters, albeit at the cost of 10 security personnel.
The Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, known for previous attacks in the region, claimed responsibility.
Minister Vahidi commended the efforts of the IRGC and Iran's police personnel in neutralizing the threat, highlighting the elimination of all 18 members involved in the failed terrorist incident.
"This incident was a failed attempt by terrorists under external control," Minister Vahidi stated, emphasizing the decisive action taken against these elements.
In the aftermath of the attack, the IRGC Ground Forces' Southeast Security Headquarters revealed that the perpetrators were affiliated with foreign intelligence agencies. Their objective was to destabilize the region by targeting public areas, military installations, and law enforcement facilities in Chabahar and Rask.
