TEHRAN – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Thursday prayed over the coffins of seven Islamic Revolution Guards Corps servicepersons who were martyred in Israeli air strikes on the consular building of the Iranian embassy in Syria on April 1.

The prayers came ahead of an official funeral ceremony for the martyrs in Tehran on Friday.

The funeral procession will coincide with International Quds Day rallies in support of the Palestinians.

Among the martyrs were Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and his deputy Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi.

The IRGC officers were serving as military advisors in Syria.
