Protesters gather in Tehran following Israeli attack on Iranian embassy
TEHRAN – In response to the Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, people have gathered in Tehran’s Palestine Square in a massive display of anger and condemnation.
The protests that occurred on Monday evening demonstrated the solidarity of people with the victims and their families, while also voicing their outrage over the brutal attack.
The attack, which occurred on Monday afternoon, targeted the diplomatic facility and resulted in the deaths of seven military advisors from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
The Iranian government has also condemned the attack, labeling it a "heinous and abhorrent terrorist act" and vowing to take decisive action in response. In a statement addressed to the United Nations Security Council, Iran urged the international community to condemn the Israeli regime's actions and hold it accountable for the consequences of its aggression.
Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in the Quds Force of the IRGC, and his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Hajirahimi, were among those killed in the airstrike. Their deaths have further fueled the anger of Iranians, who see the attack as a direct assault on their nation's sovereignty and security.
