TEHRAN - Iran’s military chief has reaffirmed Tehran’s steady support for the Palestinian cause and the resistance forces in their battle against the occupation regime of Israel.

Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, made the remarks in a meeting with Ismail Haniyeh, chief of the Hamas political bureau, in Tehran on Friday.

“The Palestinian cause has been the centerpiece of Iran’s major strategies since the [1979 victory of the Islamic] Revolution, and this will undoubtedly continue with full power," Baqeri said, Press TV reported.

The top general also said the "unprecedented" the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation by Hamas against Israel on October 7 inflicted irreparable defeat on the Tel Aviv regime.

The honorable operation shattered the myth of Israel’s invincibility and made Palestine an overriding issue across the world, the senior commander pointed out.

Baqeri went on to say that Israel would definitely have fallen apart without the backing of the United States.

He also hailed the great resistance of the Palestinian people in the face of all calamities, saying the innocent and defenseless Palestinians succeeded in showing the power of Islam to the world.

He expressed hope that the Palestinians would achieve final victory in the near future.

For his part, Haniyeh said the Hamas military operation led the voice of the Palestinian people to be heard across the world.

Haniyeh also said Iran’s support for Palestine raises the morale of the Palestinian resistance fighters.

In an exclusive interview with the Tehran Times, former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Israel’s deadly campaign in Gaza though disastrous, is completely futile.

He emphasized that the regime’s attempts to regain its myth of invincibility are doomed to fail as it would not be able to defeat resistance forces anywhere in the region.
