Resilience of Gaza's people upholds dignity of Islam: Leader
TEHRAN- Ayatollah Khamenei says the unique resistance exhibited by the resistance forces and the people of Gaza has granted dignity to Islam.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei received Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday afternoon.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said, " The historic patience of the people of Gaza in the face of the crimes and savagery of the Zionist regime, fully supported by the West, is a great phenomenon that has turned the issue of Palestine into a global priority."
"The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate in supporting the cause of Palestine and the oppressed and resilient people of Gaza," the Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei honored the memory of the martyr Al-Arouri, one of the leaders of Hamas who was martyred by the Zionist regime, saying "This noble martyr was a prominent figure whose blessed martyrdom was a reward from God for his efforts."
In the meeting, Ismail Haniyeh also thanked and appreciated the support of people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the cause of Palestine and especially the people of Gaza.
Earlier on Tuesday Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau chief of Hamas, said the resolution adopted by the United Nations Security Council demanding an immediate ceasefire between the group and Israel in Gaza shows how the Israeli regime has become globally isolated as a result of months of aggression on Palestinians.
Haniyeh made the remarks on Tuesday after a meeting in Tehran with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and a day after the UN Security Council adopted its Gaza resolution.
He said that the resolution showed that even the United States, as the main supporter of Israel in its war on Gaza, is no longer able to impose its will on the international community.
He said that "it is a testimony to the unique resilience of the Islamic Resistance and the Palestinian people."
It is the first time since the start of the war in Gaza in early October that the U.S. has allowed a draft resolution on ceasefire in Gaza to pass the Security Council.
Washington had vetoed three such resolutions alleging that any cessation of hostilities in Gaza would allow Hamas to resume attacks on Israel.
That comes as the continued Israeli invasion has pushed Gaza, a Mediterranean Palestinian territory home to some 2.3 million people, to the brink of famine as the Israeli
regime continues to block the badly needed aid from reaching people in need.
Haniyeh: Iran stands at forefront of supporting Palestinian cause
More than 32,000 people have been killed in Gaza as a result of the Israeli aggression while more than a million have been displaced from their homes.
In his remarks in Tehran on Tuesday, Haniyeh also thanked Iran for the support it has provided to the people and resistance groups in Gaza in their struggle against the Israeli aggression.
“Iran stands at the forefront of supporting Palestine’s cause and nation,” said the senior Palestinian leader.
