Leader’s remarks energize Palestinians to resist Israeli criminals

TEHRAN- The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has always commended the Palestinian people for their struggle to liberate their lands from the Israeli occupation.

Since Israel launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has doubled down on the unwavering support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Palestinians and their cause.

Days after the regime waged war on Gaza, Ayatollah Khamenei praised the resilience of the territory’s residents.

“The incidents of the recent days in Palestine, especially the bombings and the martyrdom of women, children and men, injure the heart of every human, but they also show the incredible power of Islam in Palestine… With the grace and mercy of God Almighty, this movement that has started in Palestine will go further and lead to the complete victory of the Palestinians,” he said.

The Leader also demanded that the Islamic world help the Palestinians in Gaza.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, the Israeli regime has killed more than 31,600 people in Gaza since October 7. Most of the victims are women and children. The death toll could be higher than official figures because it is not clear how many people remain trapped under the rubble.

The United States has always raised questions about the death toll announced by health officials in Gaza. Nonetheless, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin admitted on March 1 that more than 25,000 women and children have been killed in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7.

In late October, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution slammed the U.S. for its complicity in Israel’s war of genocide in Gaza as the civilian death toll was rising. Ayatollah Khamenei, however, stressed that the Palestinian people will emerge victorious in the battle against occupation and oppression.

“Undoubtedly, all these cruelty and crimes will ultimately lead nowhere, and victory belongs to the Palestinian nation in this [battle] and the future [battles], despite all the support of the world’s villains and the Americans’ definite complicity in the Zionists’ crimes,” the Leader noted.

The United States is Israel’s main military and political supporter. Since Israel waged war on Gaza in October, Washington has thrown its full military weight behind the regime’s genocidal campaign. The U.S. has also vetoed resolutions at the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

U.S. military funding to Israel exceeded $3.8 billion last year. That was part of a record $38 billion deal over 10 years signed under former president Barack Obama in 2016.

Late last year, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution also delivered another speech, during which he said, the Palestinian people will eradicate Israel through resistance.

“With God’s help, the righteous front will undoubtedly win and the usurping Zionist regime will be eradicated, and we hope that you, the youth, will see this certain future with your own eyes… The people of Gaza, the fighters of Gaza stood like a rock, like a mountain. It is an important thing. Without water, food, medicine and fuel, they stood and didn’t give up. It is very important.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also highlighted the significance of the Palestinians’ struggle against global tyranny in a January speech.

“The border of the Muslim world today is in Gaza, the pulse of the Muslim world beats in Gaza today, and the Palestinians there are standing against the world of disbelief, tyranny, arrogance and against the United States,” the Leader said.

People across Muslim countries have denounced Israel’s crimes in Gaza and the U.S. backing for the regime.

Many cities in the U.S. and European countries have also been the scene of protests against Israel’s atrocities in Gaza.

To appease growing opposition, Western leaders have sharpened criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but they have failed to take any practical action to help end the regime’s genocidal war.

In February this year, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the plight of the Palestinians in Gaza the most important issue of the Muslim world.

He said Gazans are being oppressed by those who are “devoid of humanity."

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the Palestinian people will achieve victory through God's assistance. Describing Israel as a "Zionist cancerous tumor", he said the Muslim world would witness the regime’s destruction.

In his latest speech in March, the Leader stressed that the resistance of the Palestinians will bring Israel to its knees.

“Although the Zionists have all kinds of weapons and aid coming from the United States and the West, they have not been able to do anything whatsoever in the face of the unique patience of the people of Gaza and the resilience of resistance fighters,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Israel has no scruples about committing heinous crimes against Palestinians. In defiance of international law, the regime is also deliberately starving the Palestinians in Gaza.

Hunger and severe malnutrition are widespread in the territory. About 2.3 million Gazans are facing severe shortages resulting from Israel destroying food supplies and severely restricting the flow of food, medicines and other humanitarian supplies. The situation is worse in northern Gaza, where Israel has fatally opened fire on Palestinians who wait for deliveries of food from a limited number of trucks that enter the region.

“There is no reason to intentionally block the passage of humanitarian aid or intentionally obliterate small-scale fishing vessels, greenhouses and orchards in Gaza – other than to deny people access to food,” Michael Fakhri, the UN special rapporteur on the right to food, told the Guardian late February.

He added, “Intentionally depriving people of food is clearly a war crime. Israel has announced its intention to destroy the Palestinian people, in whole or in part, simply for being Palestinian. In my view as a UN human rights expert, this is now a situation of genocide.

This means the state of Israel in its entirety is culpable and should be held accountable – not just individuals or this government or that person.”

The pain and suffering of the Palestinians in the face of Israel’s brutal war and blockade on Gaza attaches significance to numerous speeches delivered by Ayatollah Khamenei since October 7. As the Leader has stressed, Iran has spared no effort to help the Palestinians over the past decades. Since October 7, Iran has also proved that it will continue to support Palestine and the cause of the Palestinians.

Other Islamic countries should also follow suit and cut all ties with the cruel and occupying Israeli regime.
