TEHRAN – Esteghlal and Persepolis football teams played out a goalless draw in the 2023/24 Iran Persian Gulf Professional League (PGPL) on Wednesday.

Neither side showed much in terms of quality or flair in a cagey affair in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Esteghlal remained top with 43 points, three points above Persepolis.

Out of 102 matches, 50 have ended in draws so far, with Persepolis winning 27 and Esteghlal 26.

Earlier in the day, Tractor defeated Havadar 4-2, Sepahan beat Foolad 3-1, Paykan edged past Malavan 1-0, Zob Ahan lost to struggling Esteghlal Khuzestan 2-0, Mes defeated Aluminum 3-1, Nassaji beat Shams Azar 1-0 and Gol Gohar defeated Sanat Naft 1-0.
