TEHRAN-Iranian filmmakers are excellent at making social dramas and they can easily impress the audience with their works, said the French actress Marie Catherine Masson.

Mason, who has been living in Iran for the past eight years, made the remarks in an interview with Tehran Times. She named “World War III” by Houman Seyyedi, “Leila’s Brothers” by Saeid Roustai, and “The Salesman” by Asghar Farhadi as good examples of powerful Iranian movies that can captivate the audience.

Speaking about the female directors in Iran, she said: “Some female directors can have a subtle look at life and its challenges”. As an example, she named Sadaf Foroughi for having a special and detailed look at children and their problems in her films.

Comparing the Iranian and French cinema industry, Masson said that there are some renowned filmmakers in Iran, who have progressed a lot in their work, and whose style can be compared with that of French directors.

Basically, a French language instructor, she has also been playing in Iranian films and series. She first appeared in the TV series “Let's Talk About the Past” by Hamid Nematollah in 2018 and continued her activities with “Safe House” by Ahmad Moazami, in which she played the role of a French lawyer, and “Full Face” by Mahmoud Moazami, in which she performed as an American woman.

She has played the lead role in the movie romance comedy “In the Specified Time 2” directed by Roya Sharif, a Brazilin woman in the comedy “Texas 3” by Masoud Atyabi, and a Greek woman in the drama “Breath Eater” by Mohammad Kart.

Speaking about her future plans in Iranian cinema, she said that she is to collaborate with the director, producer Roya Sharif in three more movies, the names of which will be announced in the near future.
