Iranian Defense Ministry launches largest lithium battery production project
TEHRAN - The Iranian Ministry of Defense inaugurated its cutting-edge lithium battery pack production line on Monday.
The project, considered a significant milestone, was overseen by Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani.
The launch of the lithium battery pack production line marks a pivotal achievement. It is poised to meet national needs, particularly in the defense sector and heavy-duty lithium battery packs. Furthermore, it sets the stage for Iran's entry into the electric transportation industry, heralding a new era of technological advancement.
Lithium batteries serve a myriad of purposes, from telecommunication packs to military applications, electrical energy storage systems (ESS), commercial usage, and electric motorcycle packs.
The establishment and operation of the production line not only mitigates human errors but also enhances energy efficiency, resulting in heightened production rates.
Additionally, the introduction of shielded industrial batteries holds significant promise across various sectors, including telecommunications, power plants, refineries, UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), and the banking network.
The automated production process of industrial shielded batteries reduces reliance on foreign currency imports, fosters export development, bolsters competitiveness, and augments Iran's engineering service exports.
The groundbreaking initiative not only diversifies Iran's product portfolio, spanning from 3 ampere-hours to 3000 ampere-hours but also amplifies the production capacity of shielded industrial batteries by 35%.
Consequently, Iran’s dependence on imported batteries is poised to diminish significantly, ensuring self-sufficiency and resilience in critical sectors.
