Iran’s military achievements on full display at Doha defense expo
TEHRAN - Iran showcased a diverse array of domestically designed and manufactured weapons at the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2024).
Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, who was present at the exhibition, emphasized the nation's dedication to regional stability and its willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue with neighboring countries.
Iran actively participated in DIMDEX, exhibiting a range of maritime defense products, including naval vessels, weaponry, maritime communication facilities, and expertise in naval defense and related fields.
Among the featured weapons was the 20mm Oerlikon Cannons, well-suited for close-range operations where missiles might be ineffective. Additionally, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) named ‘Gaza’ was among several Iranian weapons on display. Gaza, a medium-altitude, low-endurance (MALE) UAV, boasts a payload capacity of 500 kilograms, satellite communication capabilities, and a maximum flight altitude of 35,000 feet.
This event, which started from Monday, March 4, marked the eighth edition of the region’s premier defense and maritime exhibition. Iran has seen remarkable growth in its military industry over the past decades, with ownership of various domestically produced precision-guided missiles, drones, and defense systems. Iranian military experts and engineers have achieved significant breakthroughs in manufacturing a wide range of indigenous equipment in recent years, contributing to the self-sufficiency of the armed forces.
