Iranian artworks on show at Malaysia’s Global Quranic Arts Festival

TEHRAN-Iranian artworks of different mediums are on display at the 2nd Global Quranic Arts Festival, which is underway at the Nasyrul Quran Complex in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
The event has been mounted in Malaysia with the participation of representatives from a number of Muslim countries, including Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Nigeria, IRNA reported.
According to Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Malaysia Habib Reza Arzani, the 5-member Asmaul Husna (beautiful names) Tawasheeh (religious singing) group from Iran had a performance at the opening ceremony of the event, which was welcomed by the audience.
“Presented at the Iran’s pavilion, there are Iranian artworks in various fields including calligraphy, tazheeb (illumination), minakari (painting and coloring surfaces of metals and ceramic tiles), qalamzani (a type of Iranian metalwork art), and traditional bags with Islamic patterns,” he said.
“Visiting Iran’s pavilion at the expo, the Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was gifted a silk hand-woven rug with his photo on it.
Themed “Islamic Lifestyle”, the festival aims to promote Islam as a part of lifestyle while encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of the teachings of the Quran through artistic mediums.
One of the objectives of the festival is to introduce art as an interior decoration medium in an effort to preserve and promote the Quran and to utilize modern technology as a very effective and creative means of propagation with the aim of restoring the Muslim community to their true identity.
Launched on February 23, the exhibition will wrap up on March 3.
