Navy chief announces collaboration with universities
TEHRAN - The commander of the Iranian Navy has revealed plans to extend the industrial capabilities of the navy to universities, highlighting the force's eagerness to engage in collaborative efforts with academic institutions.
During discussions with the head of Amirkabir University on Tuesday, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani emphasized the pivotal role of fostering ties between the Navy and educational centers, expressing optimism regarding the potential of universities to enhance both the defense and scientific prowess of the nation.
Highlighting the Navy's support for scientific endeavors, Admiral Irani underscored ongoing efforts to establish a joint commission to deepen collaboration between the Navy and universities.
He lauded the Navy's recent achievements, citing the participation of the Dena destroyer in a joint drill in India, which saw the involvement of over 50 nations and effectively showcased the nation's strength on a global platform.
Hamid Zeraatgar, the head of Amirkabir University, reciprocated the sentiment by affirming the university's readiness for cooperation.
He expressed particular interest in collaborating with the navy on the design and evaluation of icebreaker vessels, underscoring the university's commitment to supporting the country's naval endeavors.
