Tehran’s new ambassador to Bangkok starts diplomatic mission

TEHRAN - In preparation for his diplomatic mission, Nasseredin Heidari, the recently appointed ambassador of Iran to Thailand, held a crucial meeting on Saturday with Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Heidari presented a comprehensive report during the meeting, outlining the scope of his mission and detailing ambitious plans to foster development and strengthen cooperation between Tehran and Bangkok.

In the course of discussions, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian underscored the significance of expanding and deepening the longstanding relations between Iran and Thailand, emphasizing Thailand's pivotal role in the Asia-Pacific region. Amir Abdollahian specifically highlighted the imperative to reinforce commercial and economic ties between the two nations, urging increased engagement in political, parliamentary, and economic spheres, particularly with Thailand's newly established government.

Heidari, a seasoned diplomat, brings a wealth of experience in international political affairs within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His distinguished background includes serving in key positions such as the head of bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, the head of the conventional arms control department, and responsibilities related to space affairs.

Notably, Bangkok serves as the headquarters for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The newly-appointed ambassador of Iran to Thailand will concurrently assume representation duties at this esteemed international institution, further solidifying Iran's diplomatic presence in the region.
