IRGC head says Iran faces another opportunity to confront foes
TEHRAN- The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has noted that Iran has another opportunity to confront the enemy, and the Iranians from all walks of life will deal another blow to the enemy.
Referring to the holding of parliamentary and the Assembly of Experts elections, General Hossein Salami made the remarks in a ceremony on Friday, saying that “we are experiencing the rapid movement of the people and Basijis towards ascension and reaching the peak; we have passed through tough times in history, and the risks that enemies have created for this nation, if imposed on any other nation, even the most powerful countries like America, would break and fall.”
The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps hailed the Iranian nation and asked God to make this nation emerge victorious and proud from any challenge.
He went on to add that “the issue of global powers who fight along with allies is a matter of balance, but when we fight, it is the enemy that loses balance and is forced to change position and lower its target level.”
Salami continued by saying that “the enemy wages economic warfare to paralyze the economic system and impose poverty, deprivation, and economic bondage on the people, but the people of Iran turn sanctions threats into glorious opportunities to meet all needs within the country.”
The parliamentary election in Iran is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 1, 2024. Candidates must receive approval from the Guardian Council in order to compete for the 290 available seats. Five of these seats are reserved for religious minorities.
The elected candidates will serve a four-year term. The previous legislative elections in 2020 resulted in a significant majority for conservatives, with reformists only gaining 20 seats in parliament.
