TEHRAN – Iran's Army chief has lauded the Palestinian resistance against Israel’s brutal aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip, expressing confidence that the resilience of the Resistance groups will ultimately thwart the Zionist regime’s futile plans.

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi made the remarks at a ceremony in Tehran on Wednesday as he praised Operation al-Aqsa Storm, the largest military operation by the Palestinian resistance groups against the occupied territories in decades.

He emphasized the significance of the unprecedented operation and the subsequent resistance showcased by the people of Gaza, exposing the fact that the illegitimate Zionist regime and its supporters are currently experiencing a sense of hopelessness. “Confronted with the prospect of decline, the Zionist regime and its allies are turning to desperate and inhumane measures to extend the lifespan of the regime. But, despite such brutal endeavors, the steadfastness of the Resistance will ultimately undermine their futile schemes,” Mousavi said.

The chief commander of the Army highlighted the alarming surge in war crimes perpetrated by the Zionist regime over the past five months, actively supported by the United States, with the world witnessing these atrocities amidst the indifference of international community and some governments.

Israel started the war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian Resistance movements launched the surprise Operation al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the regime’s prolonged campaign of violence and destruction against Palestinians.

Gaza's health ministry reports that, since the commencement of Israel's genocidal war on the coastal territory, more than 29,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, with over 69,000 others sustaining injuries.

The World Food Programme said it has paused deliveries of food to isolated northern Gaza because of attacks and the breakdown of civil order in the region. While the weakening of the aid operations threatens to deepen misery across the territory, the U.S. has vetoed a supported UN resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Israel’s war on Gaza.

Despite recent pressure from Washington on Israel to permit the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, doubts arise regarding the sincerity of these efforts due to the United States' historical actions. The U.S. has vetoed a minimum of four UN Security Council resolutions that condemned Israel's settlements on Palestinian territory since October 7. Critics argue that Washington's unwavering support for Israel contributes to an excessive use of force against Palestinians, exemplified by Israel's ongoing bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip.
