TEHRAN - Deputy Head of Iran’s Fisheries Organization (IFO) Mehdi Shakouri said Iran is ranked first in the world in terms of trout production, IRNA reported.

“Iran ranks first in trout production, 16th in aquaculture, 13th in shrimp farming and 26th in fishing in the world,” Shakouri said.

According to the official, IFO has defined 279 projects to develop the country’s aquaculture industry which include introducing new species, improving fishing, and reducing dependence on imported inputs.
