Iran’s Fasihi takes gold at 2024 Asian Indoor Athletic C’ships
TEHRAN – Farzaneh Fasihi of Iran claimed a gold medal in the women’s 60 meters of the 11th edition of the Asian Indoor Athletic Championships on Sunday.
She finished the first and also bettered her own record by clocking 7.20 seconds.
Kazakhstan’s Olga Safronova won the silver with 7.35 seconds and Thailand’s Poolkerd Supanich seized the bronze with 7.38 seconds.
Also, Nazanin Fatemeh Eidian and Kazhan Rostami of Iran claimed a silver and a bronze medal with 55.33 and 55.35 seconds respectively in the women’s 400 meters.
Japanese runner Nanako Matsumoto won the gold medal with 55.14 seconds.
The 2024 Asian Indoor Athletic Championships are being held from Feb. 17 to 19 in Tehran, capital of Tehran.
Almost 400 athletes from 26 nations are competing in the event.
The Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, running since 2004, is a biennial competition organized by the Asian Athletics Association.
The 2024 edition is being held in Tehran's Aftab e Enghelab Sports Complex, is the 11th edition.
