Territorial integrity of regional countries should be safeguarded: envoy
TEHRAN- Iran's Ambassador to Armenia has emphasized that any territorial changes to borders of regional countries are unacceptable to Tehran.
In an interview with Armenpress on Saturday, Mehdi Sobhani commented on Iran's position on regional politics. Answering a question about Tehran’s stance on the so-called Zangezur corridor, Sobhani, the Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia, pointed out that “the official position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is that the territorial integrity of all regional countries must be preserved.”
“The definite position of Iran is that we cannot accept any territorial changes. Any changes in this regard must be based on mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of the two countries, and this remains our final position,” he stressed, adding, “Iran’s final position is that the territorial integrity of regional countries must be well-guarded.”
According to the Iranian diplomat, it is unacceptable for Tehran to witness a volatile situation around Armenia.
He went on to point out that Tehran supports all parties in establishing warm and peaceful relations in the shortest possible time and is confident that the only way is to have peaceful and friendly relations.
“We are in contact with all parties to facilitate peace in the region and engage in dialogue and exchange of views,” the ambassador highlighted.
