Parliament websites hit with cyber attack

TEHRAN- Iran's parliament websites fell victim to a cyber intrusion as confirmed by officials on Tuesday.

Apparently, the Mojehadin-e Khlaq Organization (MKO) is behind the hacking as pictures of the anti-Iran terrorist cult’s leaders were uploaded on the website.

Both the parliament and Khane Mellat (ICANA.ir) news agency websites were rendered inaccessible due to the cyber assault. Technical teams are currently investigating the extent of the breach, as stated by the legislature's representatives to IRNA.

The hacking group affiliated with the exiled terrorist outfit claimed responsibility for the cyber intrusion. In a message disseminated through their Telegram channel, the group boasted about penetrating 600 servers linked to Iran's parliament, subsequently releasing numerous pages of compromised material.

This cyber breach comes on the heels of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for March 1.

Over the years, various websites associated with Iran's government and media have been recurrent targets of cyberattacks.

A previous incident in December had disrupted fuel sales across 60% of Iran's petrol stations for weeks before services were fully restored, underscoring the persistent threat posed by cyber intrusions.
