TEHRAN - Tragedy struck on Friday as an Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisor, identified as Saed Alidadi, lost his life in a targeted attack by the Israeli Army in southern Damascus.

According to sources in Syria, Israeli fighter jets launched an assault on multiple positions in southern Syria from the Golan Heights. In response, the Syrian air defense successfully intercepted and shot down several Israeli missiles.

On January 20, five IRGC's military advisors were assassinated in Israeli strike on Syria.  
   
Following the strike, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that five of its members, who were serving as military advisors in Syria, were martyred in an Israeli air raid in the capital, Damascus, on Saturday. 

The IRGC said in a statement on Saturday that the advisors were martyred along with a number of Syrian forces in the Zionist regime's attack in the West of Damascus.

The IRGC statement identified the people martyred as Hojjatollah Omidvar, Ali Aghazadeh, Hossein Mohammadi, Saeed Karimi and Mohammad Amin Samadi, without sharing their ranks.

The aggression targeted a three-storey residential building in the city’s Mezza neighborhood, home to several diplomatic missions including the Iranian embassy.

Iran maintains an advisory mission in the war-ravaged country at the request of Damascus, helping it in the face of foreign-backed terrorism. Several members of the IRGC have so far been martyred in the battle against terrorists in Syria.

Israel has been a key supporter of the terrorist groups during the war and has frequently targeted military positions inside Syria.
