Key terrorist killed in border clashes southeast of Iran
TEHRAN – A key terrorist figure from the so-called Ansar al-Furqan terror outfit has been killed during armed clashes in an area near the border of Iran and Pakistan in the Sistan and Baluchestan province.
The terrorist group released a statement on Monday, confirming the death of one of its members.
Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi, the commander of the Iranian border police, verified on Tuesday that an individual associated with the Ansar Al-Furqan terrorist group was fatally injured in clashes within the border region located between the villages of Kastak and Jakigor in the Rask County of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
General Goudarzi mentioned that the person was part of a coalition of terrorist organizations operating in eastern Iran, which was involved in a terrorist assault in the city of Bampur last year.
The border guard chief also announced on Monday the neutralization of another terrorist figure in an armed altercation in the rural area of Jakigor, resulting in injuries to two other terrorists.
