“Hitler's Taster” comes to Iranian bookstores

TEHRAN-"Hitler's Taster" (original title: "La Goûteuse d'Hitler") by Italian writer Rosella Postorino been published in Persian by Now Publications.

Originally published in 2019, the book has been rendered into Persian by Abolfazl Allahdadi. 

Set during World War II, the story of "Hitler's Taster" centers around Rosa, a young woman who is chosen to be one of Hitler's food tasters. As part of Hitler's security measures, young women are selected to sample his meals to ensure they are not poisoned. Rosa, along with a group of other tasters, faces the constant fear of potential harm but also develops a sense of camaraderie with her fellow tasters in the face of this surreal and dangerous role.

Postorino delves into Rosa's experiences as she grapples with her forced allegiance to Hitler, desperate to survive while navigating the moral complexities of her role. Throughout the novel, Rosa becomes increasingly aware of the atrocities committed by Hitler's regime while questioning her loyalty to her country. She becomes torn between her duty, her desire for self-preservation, and her emerging conscience.

"Hitler's Taster" offers a gripping exploration of identity, loyalty, fear, and the erosion of humanity.
