Iran FM says Israel cannot exist without U.S. help
TEHRAN- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian has noted that the Israeli regime can never survive even for 10 minutes if the U.S. stops providing any help and support to the regime.
In an interview with ABC during his sojourn in New York for a UN Security Council meeting on Palestine, Amir Abdollahian slammed Washington’s supports for the Zionist regime in the onslaught against the Gaza Strip.
He also highlighted that “the chances that flashpoints in West Asia will ignite a conflict that engulfs the entire region have increased.”
Pinning the blame on the U.S. and Israel for the escalating tensions in the region, Iran’s top diplomat went on to add that “the scope of the war has become wider. This means that the danger of having a wider war in the region has gone up.”
“If the U.S. today stops its backing - logistical and weapons, political and media support - of the genocidal war launched by Israel, then I can assure you that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not survive for 10 minutes,” he asserted. “So the key to solve the problem is in Washington before it is in Tel Aviv.”
Responding to a question about Gaza and Hamas, he continued, “We consider Hamas a Palestinian liberation group that is standing against occupation. Of course, we never approved the killing of women and children, civilians anywhere in the world. We never support it.”
Disavowing the bogus claims that Iran has armed the Yemeni forces, the foreign minister said the U.S. military has fabricated the information. “Mostly, this is a TV show,” he asserted.
Given the U.S. assassination of top Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq in January 2020, he averred, “That was a big, big mistake made by Trump. That is not something that we will be able to forget,” adding that Tehran still wanted to see all the people involved in the strike brought to justice.
Furthermore, Abdollahian argued that whether Trump won or lost his bid for another term in the Oval Office would ultimately have little impact on the relationship between the U.S. and Iran.
“Individuals are not important, what matters is the behavior of the government that takes the office,” he added.
Amir Abdollahian concluded that “nobody is going to benefit from any war. We believe that the solution is never war.”
Iran sent messages to U.S. on risk of wider regional war
In an interview with Al-Monitor in New York, Amir Abdollahian said Tehran is not seeking a wider regional conflict.
He also stated that any country seeking to normalize ties with the Tel Aviv regime will pay a heavy price.
Alluding to the post-war Gaza, Iran’s top diplomat said Palestinian leaders must be the decision-makers and others must support them.
“A Palestinian-Palestinian dialogue should be established and they should agree on how to govern Gaza and the West Bank,” he added.
Referring to the latest developments in the region and Gaza, Amir Abdollahian said that various messages were exchanged between Tehran and Washington, adding that Iran does not seek to spread war.
“Today, the United States is fighting fiercely alongside Prime Minister Netanyahu in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank,” adding that supporting Israel’s genocide in Gaza is incompatible with the humanitarian values that the United States holds.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Amir Abdollahian addressed Yemen’s actions in the Red Sea against ships bound for Israel, noting that all resistance groups in the region acted independently and according to their own interests and considerations and do not receive orders from Iran.
