INTA collects $11b of taxes in 9 months
TEHRAN - The Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) collected 5.5 quadrillion rials (about $11 billion) of taxes during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21, 2023), Tasnim News Agency reported.
As reported, based on the current year’s national budget bill, INTA is supposed to collect 8.38 quadrillion rials ($16.76 billion) of taxes in current Iranian calendar year (ends on March 19) which means currently 65 percent of the mentioned target has been realized.
Of the collected taxes, 3.4 quadrillion rials (about $6.8 billion) has been from direct taxes and 2.08 quadrillion rials (about $4.16 billion) has been the taxes on goods and services.
Iran has introduced measures in recent years to crack down on tax evasion as part of plans to rely more on domestic resources of the economy and to offset the impacts of U.S. sanctions.
INTA managed to realize the goals set for the organization in the previous Iranian calendar year by 104 percent.
