Curtains fall on Ammar Film Festival
TEHRAN-The 14th edition of Ammar Popular Film Festival wrapped up in Tehran on Friday by awarding winners of different sections.
At the closing ceremony, held at Art Bureau, more than 30 Golden Lantern awards and honorary diplomas were presented to the winning filmmakers, IRNA reported on Saturday.
The special award of this year’s edition of the festival was the symbolic Yemeni Dagger, which was given to the winner of the resistance field. The award was presented to Hassan Vazirzadeh for his film “Rules of the Game” in the presence of three Yemeni activists.
Bolivian ambassador to Tehran Romina Guadalupe Pérez Ramos was also among the recipient of the Golden Lantern award for her country’s anti-arrogance positions.
Appreciating the organizers of the festival for inviting her as a representative of the Bolivian government and one of the companions of Palestine, she said: “I will always carry this award, which is a symbol of resistance, with me. I also thank the Yemeni companions who are working for the Palestinian cause. The award given to me today is for all the oppressed and children of Palestine and all those who resist in the occupied territories”.
Honoring the late actress Parvaneh Masoumi was also a part of the ceremony, where her son, Nima, received a memorial plaque.
Massoumi, who passed away last November, at the age of 78, performed in over 30 feature films and more than 20 TV series during 40 years of professional experience. Her notable religious works include the TV series “Traveler of Rey” and “Martyr of Kufa” both by Davood Mir-Bagheri and “Prophet Joseph” by Farajollah Salahshour.
With a dedicated emphasis on Palestine, this year’s edition of the Ammar Festival was themed on the New World Order, the ideal of Ruhollah, the Iranian dream, criticism within the discourse, national memory, the global movement of the oppressed, economic war, heroic nation, and soft war.
Ammar Popular Film Festival was established in 2010 by a number of Iranian revolutionary figures to honor film and art products promoting topics such as resistance and revolution. It was named after Ammar Yasir, a close companion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The festival serves as a platform and voice for artists involved in the resistance movement, offering support to the global artistic community that is often overlooked by the world.
It goes against promoting individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about society's troubles and other humans’ suppression. It seeks to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public.
