TEHRAN PAPERS

The era of hit-and-run tactics is over

January 19, 2024 - 22:21

TEHRAN - Kayhan analyzed the IRGC missile attack on Erbil and wrote: Once again, Israel and the Mossad used the Iraqi Kurdistan region and created direct intelligence/military bases to carry out terrorist operations inside Iran and against our compatriots, and the IRGC as promised, destroyed Israel's main base with various missiles.

Iran once again proved that the era of hit-and-run tactics is over. There has been a building in Erbil, Iraq, as Israel's operational center and under the cover of a training center or commercial/oil institute, which has been directing drone attacks on Iranian bases inside our borders with the presence of Mossad agents. According to the statement of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the objection to this matter had been conveyed many times publicly or privately to the authorities of the Kurdistan region of Iraq as well as the federal government of this country. Now we have to ask if the establishment of Israeli bases in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, planning, directing, and implementation of military and psychological operations against our land and nation is not a violation of Iran's sovereignty.

Iran: Increasing Iran's deterrence power following recent missile attacks

In an interview with Mansoor Barati, an expert on regional issues, the Iran newspaper discussed the dimensions and consequences of the retaliatory attacks of the Islamic Republic against Israel in the region and said: At the height of regional tensions, the IRGC's attacks targeted some parts of Syria, the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and the headquarters of terrorists in Pakistan and it showed Iran's comprehensive missile readiness in a wide regional area. The decisive action of the Islamic Republic in the recent attacks will increase the deterrence aspects of Iran against the opposing forces, especially against Israel, without bringing the risk of war to Iran. This issue will reduce the severity of the attacks that the Israelis planned to carry out in their next secret attacks. This should not be ignored when a war occurs, the governments that support one of the warring parties are forced to react directly at the military level. In fact, these attacks convey the message to the Zionist and American sides that Iran is ready for direct military responses.

Vatan-e-Emrooz: Iran's legitimate defense against terrorists in Pakistan

Vatan-e-Emrooz wrote about Iran's missile attack against Jaish al-Zulm terrorists in Pakistan: This operation has led to dissatisfaction in Islamabad. In justifying this dissatisfaction, the Pakistani authorities claim that any operation of another country on the territory of this country is an example of aggression against Pakistan and cannot be justified. In this case, the right of legitimate defense and legal and operational authenticity should be pointed out. Legitimate defense in the field of international law means the use of coercive force and punitive power by a country in response to a terrorist act or armed attack. It is better for those who accuse Iran of "aggression" on Pakistan's territory to know that the recent action against the Jaish al-Zulm terrorists was not an "action" and vice versa; it was a reaction to several "objective terrorist acts". Jaish al-Zulm has repeatedly officially accepted the responsibility for its terrorist actions in Sistan and Baluchestan, which led to the martyrdom of Iranian citizens, and one of these cases was the recent attack on "Rask". On the other hand, this reaction is considered legitimate and logical both from a legal and strategic point of view, because it is a clear example of "repelling a tangible threat against national security".

Hamshahri: Endless false claims

In a note, Hamshahri discussed Rafael Grossi's claim on the sidelines of the Davos meeting and said: Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, claimed that Iran is punishing this international organization for the actions committed by the United States and European countries. He added that it is a hopeless situation. We do our activities there but at the lowest level. In addition, some of his assessments are raised outside the scope of his specialized duties and Iranian authorities have reacted many times. In the past years, the International Atomic Energy Agency has paid attention to and repeated some of the claims by the Zionist regime about Iran's nuclear program. Tehran considered these claims to be fake and rejected them. Western countries led by the United States and the Zionist regime have accused Iran of pursuing military goals in the country's nuclear program. Iran emphasizes that as one of the signatories of the NPT and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to obtain nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
