Nationality of Kerman suicide bombers identified
TEHRAN - Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced on Wednesday that the identities of the suicide bombers who carried out the January 3 terrorist attack in Kerman have been determined.
Vahidi, speaking on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting, stated that one of the suicide bombers was Tajik and the other was likely also a Tajik.
He also noted that security forces have discovered various facilities used by the terrorists and have arrested several suspects.
The minister emphasized that the terrorists entered Iran illegally from the border of a neighboring country, adding that the terrorists pretended to be affiliated with the Daesh terrorist group, yet this terrorist group has been seeking to expand its activities in the areas that are part of the “axis of resistance.”
Vahidi also touched on the parliamentary elections in late winter, stating that the Interior Ministry election headquarters is holding regular meetings and taking all necessary steps to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls.
He further revealed that nearly 50 of the victims of the Kerman attack have been discharged from the hospital.
Regarding the formation of the Nationals Organization bill, Vahidi explained that the current immigration system is currently under review by the Iranian Parliament.
