TEHRAN – Over the last 24 hours, Kerman City in Iran has confronted the aftermath of a harrowing terrorist attack that transpired on Wednesday, leading to the regrettable loss of two more lives.

The terrorist incident unfolded near the tomb of the Iranian anti-terror commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, during a ceremony commemorating four years since his martyrdom.

Mohammad Saberi, the head of Kerman's emergency organization, provided a detailed update on the ongoing situation.

"As of Saturday morning, 103 individuals are currently receiving hospital care across various sections of Kerman's medical facilities. Among those hospitalized, 34 individuals severely injured in the attack are now in critical care in the ICU section, with a concerning 12 of them relying on ventilators for their recovery. The impact of this unfortunate event spans a diverse demographic, with 43 women, 43 men, and 17 children under the age of 15 among those seeking medical attention," Saberi noted.

Regrettably, the toll of this attack is further emphasized by the loss of innocent lives. Eight-year-old Taha Shadkam and 60-year-old Saeed Shahnavazi tragically succumbed to their injuries this morning, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

The head of Kerman's emergency organization emphasized, "There is an urgent need for sustained medical care and support for all victims affected by this heinous act of terrorism in Kerman."

In response to the crisis, authorities are actively engaged in implementing measures to address the aftermath and ensure the safety of the community.

Simultaneously, a delegation from the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has been dispatched to investigate the terrorist incident.

The outcomes of the investigations and the sessions conducted by the committee members are anticipated to be compiled into a comprehensive report, detailing the performance of security and law enforcement agencies, as well as individuals involved in the terrorist incident. As Kerman navigates through this challenging period, both medical and investigative efforts are underway to bring clarity and justice to the affected community.
