Elements linked to Kerman terrorist attack were arrested: Interior minister
TEHRAN - Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced on Friday that several individuals suspected of involvement in the recent terrorist attack in Kerman have been arrested.
He added that intelligence agencies have gathered substantial evidence regarding the perpetrators.
"The full details of this matter will be released by the intelligence agency," Vahidi stated.
Vahidi emphasized that the intelligence agencies are actively engaged in combating terrorism, leveraging their capabilities and swift response mechanisms.
Addressing the burial of the victims, Vahidi revealed that over 50 martyrs will be laid to rest in Kerman, while those from other cities will return home for burial.
"The funeral and burial ceremonies for some of the martyrs will be held today in various provinces outside of Kerman, while others may be conducted at later dates," he explained.
The farewell ceremony was held on Friday in the presence of President Ebrahim Raisi.
84 people were killed and 284 others were injured in two explosions taking place in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman, as the country marks the 4th martyrdom anniversary of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.
The blasts were heard in quick succession near the general’s tomb. Shortly after the explosive incidents, rescue teams were dispatched to the scene to help the injured.
