Interior Ministry confirms 89 dead in Kerman attack
TEHRAN- Iran's Deputy Minister of Interior, Majid Mirahmadi, has provided an updated casualty count for the recent terrorist attack in Kerman.
The Ministry confirms that 89 people were martyred in the attack, including 45 from Kerman, 40 from other provinces, 1 from Mashhad, and 1 from Tehran. The identities of the two remaining martyrs are still being verified. Additionally, 12 of the martyrs are Afghan nationals.
Mirahmadi further stated that 36 of the martyrs were women and 53 were men. A small number of injured individuals remain in critical condition, and there is a possibility that the casualty count may increase.
Among the martyrs, 30 individuals were under the age of 18. Notably, there are 23 martyrs aged 15 and under, with 20 of them being under 15 years old. Additionally, 11 victims were aged 10 and under, and 9 were below the age of 10. Tragically, 2 individuals were even under the age of 5.
The Deputy Minister confirmed that the remains of two suicide bombers were found at the scene of the attack, indicating that both explosions were carried out by suicide bombers.
He emphasized that Iran's intelligence agencies are actively pursuing those responsible for the attack and have gathered substantial evidence related to the perpetrators.
