TEHRAN – Iran Basketball Federation is going to continue its cooperation with Greek head coach Eleni Kapogianni.

Under her leadership, Iran’s Women's National Basketball Team reached the final of the Asian Championship in Division B, where Team Melli suffered a narrow 55-54 loss against Indonesia and failed to advance to Division A.

After winning back-to-back Greek Women's Basketball League Championships with Panathinaikos Women's team, 54-year-old head coach Kapogianni took charge of Iran.

Kapogianni had a contract with the Iranian Basketball Federation for about three months which ended in August 2023.

According to Fattaneh Malek, vice president of Iran Basketball Federation, Kapogianni will travel to Tehran in February to sign a new contract.
