Iran Army Chief urges election participation
TEHRAN- The Iranian army commander has stressed high voter turnout and increased responsibility for elected officials in upcoming elections.
Addressing a conference, Major General Mousavi asserted, "By actively participating in elections, we shape the destiny of our nation, both today and tomorrow. The sensitivity and importance of this civic duty should compel all of us to strive for a resounding electoral success."
The army chief highlighted the significance of electing individuals who represent the aspirations and ideals of the electorate.
Echoing the remarks of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, Major General Mousavi emphasized the crucial role of elections in shaping the nation's trajectory. "If we recognize that actively addressing challenges and confronting adversaries equates to Jihad, then participating in elections is, in essence, a form of Jihad."
He elaborated, "When we witness the extensive efforts of our enemies – from devising elaborate schemes to spending vast sums of money, establishing media campaigns, and employing every tactic imaginable – to discourage enthusiastic voter turnout, it becomes clear that defying these adversaries and casting our ballots is a form of Jihad, a struggle against our foes."
Concluding his remarks, Major General Mousavi declared, "The day of elections is a national celebration, a collective endeavor that we must undertake hand in hand."
