ICCIMA calls on govt. to lessen interventions in energy sector
TEHRAN – Members of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Energy Committee have called on the government to reduce its interventions in the energy economy, the ICCIMA portal reported.
Pointing out that the imbalance in the electricity industry is serious, the members of the committee said: “To solve this problem, the government should stop interfering in the energy economy and allow the private sector to operate.”
During this meeting, a report was presented on the situation, obstacles, and problems of the electricity industry in Iran.
According to the law, electricity generation is exempt from value-added tax, but the Tax Affairs Administration does not accept this exemption and has a disagreement with the Ministry of Energy, which results in many problems for economic operators active in this sector, the members of the committee said.
