16th Fajr Visual Arts Festival receives over 10,000 works
TEHRAN-The 16th Fajr Visual Arts Festival has received 10,076 works of various mediums from 3,429 artists, the secretary general of the festival has said.
“Of the total submitted works, the photo section has the highest number of works, with 2,315 photos,” ISNA quoted Amir Abdolhosseini as saying on Sunday.
The number of female artists applying to participate in this year’s festival is considerably higher than the male artists. “While 1,387 applicants are men, 2,042 women artists have submitted works,” he added.
“Tehran Province is in the first place in terms of having the highest number of participants and Isfahan, Khorasan Razavi, Alborz, Qom, East Azarbaijan, Fars, and Mazandaran provinces are in the next ranks respectively,” the official noted.
The 16th Fajr Visual Arts Festival will be held in the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art as well as some prestigious exhibition centers in 28 provinces.
The festival includes sections for painting and drawing, graphic design, illustration, photography, calligraphy, Persian miniature, cartoon and caricature, sculpture, ceramics and glass works, and new art mediums.
An exhibition of the selected works will open on January 26, 2024, and the winners of the festival will be announced on February 15, 2024.
