72 policemen martyred this year: police chief

TEHRAN- Iranian police chief General Ahmad Reza Radan said on Sunday that the number of martyrs from the Iranian law enforcement forces has reached 72 people this Iranian calendar year.

The Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran, abbreviated as Faraja in Persian, is the uniformed police force in Iran. 

During his one-day visit to Qazvin Province, General Radan met with Ayatollah Abdol Karim Abedini, the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in the province. 

He emphasized the unwavering commitment of the Faraja force to safeguarding the country's security and peace.

Commemorating the tragic loss of 11 officers during a recent terrorist attack in Rusk County, Radan stressed the unwavering dedication of the police force, stating, "This year, 72 members of our self-sacrificing police force have achieved the highest echelon of martyrdom."

He underscored the crucial role of Faraja in maintaining peace and security across Iran, adding, "The police force has not wavered in its duty to protect the nation, and these martyrs are a testament to their bravery and sacrifice."

As part of his Qazvin visit, General Radan met with Faraja personnel and paid homage at the Qazvin Police Martyrs' Memorial, honoring the fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the safety and well-being of their countrymen.
