Iran ready to share knowledge in military geography: official
TEHRAN – Iran’s Defense Ministry is ready to share its ground-breaking knowledge in the field of military geography with other nations, a senior Iranian military official says.
Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi made the remarks on Saturday at the opening ceremony of the third Iran Geo International Exhibition, underscoring the efforts of Iranian experts to translate ideas into practical solutions in understanding environmental realities.
Military geography is a specialized field that explores the interplay between geographical elements and military endeavors. It encompasses the examination of physical landscapes, terrain, climate, and human geography to comprehend their effects on military activities, including operations, strategies, and tactics.
Farahi emphasized the significance of geography, the oldest science for comprehending and addressing environmental challenges. He acknowledged the special focus of many Iranian scholars on geographical sciences, resulting in substantial effects in Iran and the Islamic world in general.
Highlighting geography as an interdisciplinary science with broad impacts on economic and social domains, the Deputy Minister stressed its pivotal role in advancing sustainable development in this field. He noted that future global competitions would revolve around science and technology, ushering us into an era of geopolitics in data.
Farahi underscored that the key to today's global sustainable progress lies in scientific advancements, expecting practical outcomes in various areas within the framework of this scientific event.
Discussing the interplay between geography, power, and politics and their impact on the geographical environment, he urged countries to adopt complementary approaches.
He highlighted the century-long activity of the geographical department of the Iranian armed forces, a testament to Iran's continuous scientific achievements.
“Developments in aerospace, cyber, and electronic industries within the Ministry of Defense not only bolstered support for the armed forces but also enhanced other national services,” Farahi added.
Concluding his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Defense highlighted the Ministry's valuable actions in the field of military geography through collaboration with national sectors. He affirmed that the showcased initiatives by young and talented youth aimed at development, declaring the Islamic Republic of Iran's readiness to share these achievements with other countries.
