Displacing Gazans is example of ethnic cleansing: Iran Deputy FM
TEHRAN- A top Iranian diplomat called for an immediate cessation of the Zionists’ war crimes and genocide in Gaza, saying displacing Gazans is an example of “ethnic cleansing,” which must be brought to an end.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani, who had traveled to Tokyo, met with Japan’s Foreign Minister, Yoko Kamikawa, and Senior Japanese Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Takehiro Funakoshi.
In the meeting, the two parties discussed the latest status of bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
While welcoming Bagheri’s visit to Tokyo, Kamikawa stressed the importance of the meeting to promote friendly relations between the two states.
Pointing to the importance of friendly relations between the two states, the Iranian diplomat emphasized the necessity of efforts to promote bilateral relations in economics, cooperation, and exchange of views regarding international and regional developments.
He also called for an immediate cessation of the war crimes and genocide of the Zionist regime in Gaza, stating that the international community, including Japan, is expected to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.
“Displacing Gazans is an example of ethnic cleansing and must be stopped immediately,” Bagheri Kani said.
Kamikawa, for her part, emphasized the need to send humanitarian aid to Gaza immediately, urging the cooperation of the international community to stop the crisis and prevent its spread beyond the besieged enclave.
The parties also emphasized the importance of cooperation to ensure international security.
On December 13, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian met with his Japanese counterpart on the sidelines of the World Refugee Forum in the Swiss city of Geneva. During their meeting, the two officials underscored the importance of enhancing ties and promoting bilateral relations and cooperation. Referring to the old and deep-rooted ties between the two countries, Kamikawa announced there were plans and schedules for bilateral meetings between the officials of the two countries soon.
