Swedish national appears in Tehran court on charges of espionage

TEHRAN- The first hearing session for Johan Henrik Niels Flodros was held on Sunday at Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.

The hearing was held under the chairmanship of Judge Afshari.

The judge announced that Flodros, his lawyers, and an official translator were also present in the meeting.

He invited the prosecutor's representative to read the indictment issued by the Tehran Prosecutor's Office.

"I have been granted permission by the judges of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran to read out the indictment against Johan Henrik Nils Flodros, a Swedish citizen. Mr. Flodros has been charged with corruption on Earth, posing a significant threat to the security of the country, and engaging in extensive intelligence cooperation with the Zionist regime," stated the representative.  

He said that according to the report of the Ministry of Intelligence and the documents obtained, an investigation has been conducted and the defendant's statements indicate that he was in contact with the Zionist regime.

“Flodros has had a vast connection with agents and elements of the European Union and representatives related to the MEK terrorist group,” the representative added.

As per the representative, Flodros was acting under the disguise of humanitarian projects with the guidance of Israeli agents.

According to the representative's statement, Flodros is accused of committing an offense that is documented in Article 286 of the Islamic Penal Code and Article 6 of the Law on Countering the Hostile Actions of the Zionist Regime. Therefore, based on the available evidence, he is facing punishment.

After the statements of the representative of the prosecutor, the judge announced the end of the session and said, “The time of the next session will be announced later.”
