Over 9.2m cellphones imported in 8 months
TEHRAN - Over 9.268 million cell phones worth $1.938 billion were imported into the country in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-November 21), IRNA reported.
Based on the data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), of the total imported phones, 8.928 million worth $1.74 billion were imported into the country by commercial importers and 339,542 phones worth $197.807 million were imported by passengers.
Customs statistics show that the import of mobile phones in the previous Iranian year 1401 (ended on March 20) was 14,315,000 units, of which 13,764,000 units were imported commercially and 550,000 units were imported by passengers.
Also, the value of the mobile phone imports by commercial companies in 1401 was $2.871 billion and by passengers was $346.73 million.
