Sahne Abi Cine Club to show Terrence Malick’s “Tree of Life”

TEHRAN- Terrence Malick’s 2011 drama fantasy “The Tree of Life” will be shown at the Cine Club of Sahne Abi Cultural and Artistic Center in Tehran on Saturday.

After the film screening at 6 p.m., it will be followed by a review session at the center, Honaronline reported.

The film chronicles the origins and meaning of life by way of a man's early life memories of his family living in 1950s Texas, interspersed with imagery of the origins of the known universe and the inception of life on Earth.

Its main cast includes Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Hunter McCracken, Laramie Eppler, Jessica Chastain, and Tye Sheridan.

“The Tree of Life” premiered in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where it was awarded the Palme d'Or. It ranked number one on review aggregator Metacritic's “Film Critic Top Ten List of 2011”. It has since been ranked by some publications as one of the greatest films of the 2010s, of the 21st century, or of all time.

The film screening at Sahne Abi Center is part of the program “The Magic World of Terrence Malick,” which is dedicated to the showing and review of six movies directed by him.

In the past weeks, four films by the American filmmaker have been shown at the center including “Badlands” (1973), “Days of Heaven” (1978), “The Thin Red Line” (1998), and “The New World” (2005).

Sahne Abi Cultural and Artistic Center is located at No. 1595, Valiasr St., after Taleqani junction.
