TEHRAN – A group of actors will perform a reading of American playwright and screenwriter David Ives’ “Sure Thing” at Tehran’s Neauphle-le-Chateau Theater on Sunday.

The reading performance will be directed by Matin Noruzi. Noruzi and Farshid Qolipur are the main members of the cast.

“Sure Thing” is a one-act play that revolves around two characters, Bill and Betty, who meet in a café and engage in a series of conversations that are reset each time one of them says something incorrect or offensive. With each reset, they get a chance to redo the conversation and avoid any misunderstandings.

The play explores the themes of chance, communication, and the possibility of second chances. Throughout the play, Bill and Betty's conversations cover a range of topics, from politics to personal interests, and through their dialogue, Ives highlights the importance of effective communication and the potential for human relationships to improve with understanding and empathy.

By utilizing a comedic and repetitive structure, the play invites the audience to reflect on the complexities of human interaction and the significance of a "sure thing" in finding harmony and connection with others.
