Tehran Symphony Orchestra dedicates performance to Gazan children
TEHRAN-The Tehran Symphony Orchestra (TSO) dedicated a piece to the children in Gaza during its recent performance at Vahdat Hall in Tehran.
Led by conductor Manuchehr Sahbai and accompanied by oboe player Aryan Gheitasi, the orchestra held concerts on November 16 and 17, Honaronline reported on Sunday.
At the beginning of each performance, the TSO played a piece by the German composer Johann Sebastian Bach titled “Celebrated Air,” and dedicated it to the Gazan children.
In the Gaza Strip, women and children are particularly affected by a humanitarian disaster. According to the World Health Organization, an average of 420 children are killed or injured every day in the Gaza Strip. Israel’s intense air bombardment and ground operations in the past 40 days have killed more than 12,000 people, about half of them are children.
During the concerts, the TSO also performed a selection of classical pieces including Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in D Major, the Symphony No. 8 in G minor by Antonin Dvorak, and the Bijan and Manijeh Suite by Hossein Dehlavi.
Since the beginning of the fall, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra has performed 10 nights at Vahdat Hall, all welcomed by the audience.
